Using sophisticated biometrics, this tool combines the reliability of biometrics with the precision and scalability that only AI/ML-based technology can deliver. With SoundPass, individuals, workplaces, businesses, places of worship and education campuses can re-open with smarter, better tools.
Biometrics is defined as the measurement and analysis of unique physical or behavioral characteristics (such as fingerprint or voice patterns), especially as a means of verifying personal identity. Biometric identifiers are distinctive, physiological characteristics that relate to a human individual.
Examples include palm prints, facial recognition, fingerprints, DNA, retina mapping and iris recognition. New uses of biometric mapping include behavioral patterns of an individual, such as their typing rhythm, gait, keystroke pattern, written signature, and voiceprint, together sometimes referred to as “behaviormetrics”.
SoundPass is a newly released biometric security tool by RAIsonance, Inc, a company funded in part by the National Science Foundation. While most people think of biometrics for their use in the world of identity verification and building access control, SoundPass has added another vital function to the typical biometric solution set. Captured by the mobile app and sent to the AI/ML algorithms, a forced cough vocalization creates a signal data signature or SDS. Our proprietary AI/ML system compares the new SDS recorded by the app to the user's personal Baseline within minutes, to determine whether or not it matches.
Each SDS is a SoundPass audio input that first gets transformed into spectrograms using the company’s specialized processing tools. Algorithms capture frequency signatures and time concordance to create distinctive SDS sets, which are then analyzed by a proprietary ensemble of deep learning neural networks trained to recognize unique identifiers in the cough signatures. Using the techniques of transfer learning, the device detects very precise identifying features, and conducts highly accurate biometric matches.
SoundPass technology is designed to establish a completely unique SDS identity, referred to the SDS Baseline, for each user. Following the simple-to-use cell phone app instructions, the SDS Baseline is completed once the user provides 6 “on demand” forced cough vocalizations over a 12+ hour period.
Once this Baseline is established, SoundPass users can conduct a self-check at any time to verify whether any changes have taken place in their own, unique, SDS Baseline. If nothing has changed, SoundPass generates an “authentication” message. SoundPass Plus users also receive a QR code that can be read by SoundPass Access software. The SoundPass Access software is used by businesses, workplaces, educational campuses, retailers, and any facility that is focused on smarter in-person gatherings by verifying the SDS authentication status of users.
If a user attempts a self-check with SoundPass and is unable to obtain an authentication, this indicates a potential risk. Authentication failure is due to a change identified in the user’s SDS, which can be detected within minutes to hours after exposure to many different agents. For this reason, each authentication by SoundPass Plus is only valid for 4 hours, after which the authentication expires. Self-checks take under 90 seconds from start to finish, and the product can be used every day – even many times per day – to provide peace of mind to all users and their families.
